Business case
Supply chain activities
For an importer of decoration articles Meerendonk controls the entire chain from ordering till final delivery to end consumer. By collecting data about the actual store sales Meerendonk generates a purchase order which will be send to supplier in the Far East in accordance with the importer. The coordination and control of this order and the shipment is handled by Meerendonk. During this process all steps are clearly marked in a track & trace overview. After arrival in Rotterdam the goods are custom cleared and in accordance with the final receiver a delivery appointment is made. The importer has chosen to outsource all logistical activities from origin to final receiver. One of the reasons of the importer is that all invoices of a certain shipment (precarriage, seafreight, custom clearance, duties, oncarriage) are consolidated to one invoice.
